Saint Clare of Assisi Patroness of Quilters and Needle Workers Clara was well born. She heard St. Francis preach and was so moved by him that she followed him. He placed her in a convent. Eventually she established the Poor Clares who lived a simple life of poverty and seclusion. She emulated and cared for Francis whom she saw as a profound spiritual teacher.
