While tending sheep in Portugal in 1917, Lucia, aged 9, and her two younger cousins had a shared vision of a woman surrounded by light. She called herself The Lady of the Rosary. She instructed the children to pray the Rosary for Peace. She told them World War I would soon end, but another War would start. She appeared 6 times before them. 70,000 people came to see her after hearing of her.
